Help Mayekoo Fund Menstrual Kits & Education: Help Girls Stay in School

Organization name: Mayekoo

A girl shouldn’t have to choose between her education and her period. But for too many girls, that’s exactly what happens. In many communities, girls still miss school during their menstrual cycle—not because menstruation is the issue, but because access, privacy, and stigma are. When a girl doesn’t have reliable supplies or a safe, discreet place to manage her period, she stays home. Over time, that leads to missed lessons, lost confidence, and fewer opportunities.

UNESCO estimates that 1 in 10 girls in sub-Saharan Africa miss school during their period. Over a school year, that can add up to weeks of missed instruction.

Help fund menstrual kits and education so girls can stay in school with dignity. Give today—and help make every month manageable.

Who We Are

Mayekoo (Project Andiamo Foundation) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) and a Ghanaian public charity. We work with vetted local organizations including Amazing Girls Foundation, Rotary Club of Accra, Kyereh Foundation, Period Bank Initiative, and Erudite Women’s Empowerment Foundation, to reach girls through schools and community programs with support that’s practical, culturally aware, and accountable.

Together, we deliver menstrual supplies and practical education in ways that are locally led, accountable, and built to last.

What Your Donation Makes Possible

A lot of efforts stop at a one-time product drop. That can help in the moment, but it doesn’t always change what a girl faces next month—or the month after that.

We’re building a layered approach that meets real needs and lasts. Our goal is to support up to 20,000 girls with menstrual kits and practical education—delivered locally, with follow-through.

Your support helps provide:

  • Reusable period kits designed to last 3–4 years (pads + liner + care guidance)
  • Disposable kits where short-term support is needed
  • Menstrual health education that replaces stigma with confidence
  • Local assembly and manufacturing, supporting women’s livelihoods
  • Support for period-friendly schools (privacy, hygiene access, and disposal readiness)

Because dignity isn’t one item—it’s the whole environment a girl steps into.

How Funds Are Used

The average all-in cost per girl is $8–$10. Donations support:

  • Production and packaging
  • Distribution and logistics
  • Education materials and facilitation
  • Monitoring and documentation

What Success Looks Like

We track what matters, including:

  • Girls equipped with 3–4 years of protection
  • Schools reached and sessions delivered
  • Pre/post gains in knowledge and confidence
  • Attendance and engagement signals reported by schools

When girls don’t have to miss class because of their period:

  • Attendance stabilizes
  • Confidence grows
  • Learning stays on track
  • A monthly cycle stops becoming a monthly setback

Help fund menstrual kits and education so girls can stay in school with dignity. Give today—and help a girl show up tomorrow, next week, and every month after that.

Transparency Promise

We pledge to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Every contribution will be diligently tracked, with regular updates on our progress and detailed reports on how your donations are making a difference.
