THE PROBLEM
This is not just a water problem. It is a daily life problem.
For millions of people across Africa, the absence of safe water is not a statistic. It is the first thing they think about every morning.
When clean water is far away or unsafe, the burden touches everything. Women and children spend hours each day collecting water from sources that may make them sick. Families make impossible choices between thirst and risk. Students arrive at school already exhausted. Teachers work in facilities without functioning sanitation. Communities absorb the health costs of waterborne disease quietly and continuously.
In schools specifically, the absence of safe water undermines everything else. A child who is sick from contaminated water cannot learn. A girl without access to private, clean sanitation facilities is more likely to miss school during her period. A teacher without handwashing access cannot model the hygiene habits that protect an entire classroom.
Clean water is not one improvement among many. It is the foundation that makes every other improvement possible.
Better Health
Safe water reduces waterborne disease and creates healthier daily conditions for families and communities.
Stronger Education
Schools with clean water access create healthier environments where students can focus, attend consistently, and learn well.
Better Sanitation & Hygiene
Water access supports the sanitation infrastructure and hygiene practices that protect everyone who shares a space.
More Dignity & Time
When safe water is close to home, women and children spend less time collecting it — and more time on what matters most.

HOW MAYEKOO RESPONDS
Water that reaches the people who need it most.
Mayekoo supports practical water and WASH solutions that address real daily conditions — not just infrastructure for its own sake, but systems that improve health, dignity, and opportunity for the people they serve.
We work with vetted local partners who know their communities, understand the specific conditions on the ground, and are accountable for delivery. Mayekoo provides project management support, execution oversight, and transparent reporting so donors can follow the work from funding to completion.
We don't write a check and wait. We stay involved until the water flows — and we prove it.
WHAT YOUR DONATION FUNDS
Drilled wells and boreholes
We help fund drilled wells and boreholes that bring safer, more reliable water closer to schools and communities that have gone too long without it. A single well can serve up to 500 people
Water access improvements
We support the practical access points people use every day — taps, standpipes, school water points, and shared community collection points that make safe water reachable rather than distant.
Sanitation and hygiene upgrades
We help improve the conditions around water access through practical sanitation upgrades — flushable toilet systems, handwashing stations, drainage improvements, and healthier facilities that protect dignity and daily wellbeing.
Water storage and distribution infrastructure
We help fund the systems that move water reliably from source to use — underground pipes, storage tanks, reservoirs, and connected distribution infrastructure that ensures access isn't dependent on a single point of failure.

PROOF OF WORK
We show the work. Not just the mission.
Every Mayekoo water project is documented with photos, field updates, and GPS-verified location data — so donors can see exactly where wells were drilled, which communities were served, and what conditions looked like before and after. Below are our two completed well projects in Ghana — the foundation for the clean water work we are expanding across Africa.
ABOUT MAYEKOO
We don't just fund water projects. We help deliver them.
Mayekoo is a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity working with vetted local partners to fund and help execute clean water and WASH projects across Africa.
That means we don't stop at writing a check. We provide project management support, coordinate with local partners on execution, and stay involved through completion. When the well is drilled and the water flows, we document it — GPS coordinates, photos, and field reporting — so every donor knows exactly what their support helped build.
Mayekoo has already helped bring safe water to over 740 people across two completed well projects in Ghana. That number grows with every donor who joins us.
With Mayekoo, your gift supports:
- Drilled wells and boreholes serving schools and communities
- Water access infrastructure built for long-term reliability
- Sanitation and hygiene improvements that protect health and dignity
- Transparent field reporting so you can see the work and the results
FAQs
How much does a drilled well cost — and how many people does it serve?
On average a completed well project costs around $7,500 and goes up. It depends on a lot of field conditions. A single well can serve up to 500 people — making the cost roughly $16 per person for reliable access to safe water.
Does Mayekoo support schools, communities, or both?
Both. Mayekoo funds water projects wherever the need is greatest — schools, community water points, and shared infrastructure that serves multiple groups. Our completed projects in Ghana include both a school-based well and a community well serving 500 people.
How does Mayekoo ensure projects are actually delivered?
Mayekoo works exclusively with vetted local partners and provides project management oversight from planning through completion. Every project is documented with GPS coordinates and photos from the field — so donors always have proof that the work happened and the water flows.
How will I know my gift made a difference?
We share field updates and completion reports for every project — photos, GPS location, beneficiary numbers, and project details. You'll know exactly where your support went and who it helped.
Safe water shouldn't be out of reach. Your support helps change that.
