Help UniMAC Students Build a Reading Centre at Tenashie A/B Primary School
We are Level 400 students at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC). As part of our Social Marketing course, and under the supervision of our lecturers, we are partnering with Mayekoo to help establish a Reading Centre at Tenashie A/B Primary School.
We are raising $2,000 to help create a welcoming space where pupils can access books, practise reading and build stronger literacy skills. This campaign gives us an opportunity to use what we are learning in the classroom—fundraising, communication, social media and volunteer mobilisation—to support a real educational need.
Why This Matters
Reading is the foundation of learning, but many children have limited access to age-appropriate books or a dedicated place where they can read outside the classroom.
A Reading Centre can give pupils more opportunities to improve their vocabulary, comprehension, confidence and curiosity.
The centre will not only support the children currently attending Tenashie A/B Primary School. It can continue serving future pupils for years to come, making it a lasting investment in the school community.
What Your Donation Will Support
The $2,000 raised through this campaign will contribute toward:
- Age-appropriate books
- Bookshelves and storage
- Reading tables, chairs and suitable furniture
- Literacy and educational materials
- Reading-club resources
- Basic improvements needed to create a safe and inviting space
All donations will be received and managed through Mayekoo and directed to its Education Initiative.
Mayekoo will lead the planning, procurement, setup and reporting needed to deliver the project responsibly.
How We Will Participate
We are not only asking others to support this project. We will contribute our own time, skills and networks.
We will use social media and fundraising outreach to build support for the Reading Centre. We also plan to visit the school as guest readers and spend time engaging with pupils through reading-club activities.
Through this experience, we hope to encourage more students to see that they can use their education and skills to make a practical difference in their communities.
