Donate to Women Relief Aid & Empower Young Girls in South Sudan Through Skateboarding
Women Relief Aid (WRA) is a women-led NGO based in Juba, South Sudan, dedicated to empowering women and girls in war-affected communities.
- Business Registration Number: 4076
- Tax ID Number: 4076-WRA
- Location: Juba, Central Region, South Sudan
Founded by a group of young women responding to the challenges their fellow women face in conflict zones, WRA is committed to improving the lives of girls through education, sport, and community development.
Our latest initiative, The Girl’s Fitness Skateboarding Center, will be the first dedicated skateboarding space for girls in Torit County, South Sudan.
In South Sudan, young girls face immense challenges—depression, early forced marriage, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, and exclusion from sports and social spaces. Girls in rural areas have no access to skateboarding facilities, and the country as a whole lacks proper infrastructure for the sport.
With your support, we can change this by building a dedicated skateboarding ground where young girls (ages 8-17) can have fun, stay active, learn new skills, and build a supportive community.
The Challenge
Limited Access to Sports for Girls – In Torit County, girls have little to no access to recreational sports, fitness, or structured activities that encourage well-being and personal growth.
Depression & Social Isolation – Many young girls experience mental health struggles due to forced marriages, early pregnancies, and exclusion from opportunities.
No Skateboarding Facilities in Rural South Sudan – 100% of rural areas in South Sudan lack access to skateboarding equipment and safe playing grounds. There are no dedicated spaces for girls to learn, play, and develop confidence.
Lack of Community Support for Girls in Sports – In many areas, sports for girls are discouraged due to cultural norms. Providing a safe, dedicated space allows girls to explore new opportunities freely.
Without intervention, these challenges will continue to limit the potential of young girls, keeping them isolated, vulnerable, and deprived of opportunities for self-expression and physical fitness.
Why It Matters
Empowering Girls Through Sport – Skateboarding is more than just a sport—it’s a tool for self-expression, resilience, and confidence-building.
Mental Health & Well-Being – The physical activity and social engagement of skateboarding help reduce depression and anxiety, giving girls a sense of purpose and community.
Creating New Opportunities for Girls – By introducing girls to skateboarding, we are giving them a unique opportunity to develop new skills, creativity, and friendships.
Long-Term Impact on Gender Equality – Girls in sports grow up to be stronger leaders. This initiative will challenge cultural barriers, proving that girls belong in sports and public spaces.
Your support can transform lives by giving girls a safe space to thrive, dream, and build a brighter future.
