Give Vakpo Primary School Safer Spaces to Learn

Teachers at Vakpo have learned to make a lot out of very little.

When aging school infrastructure limits classroom access, lessons do not simply stop. Teachers adapt. Students gather where space is available. At times, learning has moved into makeshift areas under shade trees.

That resourcefulness deserves respect—but it should not become the permanent plan.

Mayekoo’s work with Vakpo E.P. Primary School is focused on giving the school more dependable spaces for learning and childhood development. Clean-water access has already advanced through a completed borehole project. The broader school-improvement need remains: classrooms that can be counted on, a better childcare environment, a library, and places for children to learn and play safely.

This fundraiser helps move those physical improvements forward so teachers can spend less energy working around the building and more energy teaching inside it.

Children learn better when the environment around them is stable enough to support a routine.

A safe classroom, a place for younger children, access to books, and space to play all contribute to a school that supports the whole child. Improvements also give teachers better tools for organizing lessons and building a stronger school culture.

Aging and inadequate school infrastructure can make the school day unpredictable.

When classrooms are damaged, overcrowded or unavailable, teachers have fewer options and students lose the consistency that a good learning environment should provide. Rural schools can also face longer waits for major capital improvements because funding is limited and needs compete across many communities.

The broader plan includes classroom and childcare spaces, library capacity, play facilities and related school infrastructure. Water access has already been delivered through Mayekoo’s completed borehole work, so this active fundraiser should focus on the school improvements that remain rather than presenting the water project as unfinished.

Mayekoo will continue to coordinate with the school and local partners so fundraising follows verified needs and delivered scope.
