Help UniMAC Students Take Action for Cleaner Coastlines

These students are not studying the coastline from a classroom. They are stepping onto it.

UniMAC students have joined Mayekoo in cleanup work around Kpeshie Lagoon and Labadi Beach, where volunteers helped remove plastic and other waste from heavily affected coastal areas.

That experience is the foundation of this fundraiser: students using their time, communication skills and collective energy to take part in visible environmental action.

The campaign helps make more of that participation possible. Gloves, tools, transport, waste bags, water, field coordination and proper haul-off all cost money. Larger cleanup days may also need support from Mayekoo’s mechanized equipment and waste-removal partners.

The students bring people and momentum. Donations help turn that momentum into organized field work with a measurable result.

Student participation does two things at once.

It removes waste from the coastline in the present, and it gives future communicators, journalists and professionals firsthand experience with an environmental problem they may later explain, influence or organize around.

Action creates a different kind of understanding.

A volunteer cleanup only works when the logistics around it work.

People need safe equipment, clear coordination and a plan for the waste once it is collected. Without haul-off and disposal, bags can simply sit near the same coastline volunteers came to protect.

Student groups also need practical support to participate safely and consistently rather than relying on one-off enthusiasm.

Donations support UniMAC student participation in Mayekoo coastal cleanup activities.

Funds may support gloves and cleanup tools, safety supplies, volunteer logistics, transport, refreshments/water, collection materials, coordinated haul-off and disposal, documentation, and mechanized support where the cleanup scope requires it.

The campaign remains student-led in spirit while using Mayekoo’s established cleanup operations to make the work functional.
