Women Relief Aid (WRA) is a registered, women-led nonprofit based in Juba, South Sudan (Company Registration No: 4076, Tax ID No: 4076-WRA). Founded by a courageous group of young women, WRA responds to the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable women, girls, and children across South Sudan.

From grassroots education and WASH programs to emergency relief and legal advocacy, we are committed to restoring dignity and opportunity to those devastated by conflict, displacement, and poverty. Our projects prioritize community leadership, female empowerment, and resilience building—especially in rural and conflict-affected regions.

The Challenges

In South Sudan, peace is too often built without women.

  • Over 98% of women in rural areas are illiterate, disconnected from formal peace talks.

  • Young women—those most affected by war, sexual violence, and poverty—are completely excluded from conflict resolution roles.

  • Community-based women leaders, youth organizers, and market vendors face hostility and stigma when stepping into public discourse.

  • Dowries, land disputes, and cultural silencing create structural barriers that rob women of agency.

Even well-intentioned peace efforts exclude grassroots voices. Without women, peace is fragile, short-lived, and unjust.

Why It Matters

When women lead peace, communities stabilize, children return to school, markets reopen, and conflict fades.

“She Builds Peace” is WRA’s answer to invisibility.

This campaign is about:

  • Transforming silence into strategy, by training young women as peace ambassadors.

  • Dismantling harmful norms, by amplifying women’s stories on radio and in rural forums.

  • Building sustainable peace, by creating local clubs led by women who know their communities best.

Every young woman trained becomes a ripple of resilience—disrupting cycles of violence with empathy, knowledge, and courage.

The Solution

Train 70 Young Women Peace Ambassadors

Conduct intensive 2-day sessions for young female leaders—church reps, youth chiefs, market women, and community organizers—empowering them with peacebuilding, mediation, and rights advocacy skills.

Host 20 Radio Talk Shows on Women in Peace

Launch a national radio campaign elevating stories and insights from women peacebuilders, tackling themes of inclusion, gender justice, and local conflict resolution.

Mobilize 6 Rural Peace Campaigns

Bring dialogue and healing directly into communities, with 6 campaigns reaching 300+ participants through guided interviews, storytelling, and shared lived experiences.

Form 6 Women Peace Clubs

Establish local clubs at the payam (district) level with materials and mentorship, creating permanent spaces for women-led mediation, solidarity, and civic action.

This is not just advocacy—it’s infrastructure for peace, rooted in the voices of those most often silenced.

To every donor lighting the way forward: thank you. You’re not just funding a campaign—you’re sowing seeds of peace in villages where conflict has long been a shadow. Because of you, young women will rise not as victims, but as builders of peace, unity, and justice. Your support is our strength.

With Gratitude,

The WRA Team
