Support The Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation "PAD-ME" Initiative
The Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation-Ghana (VFFF) is a registered non-governmental organization (CG017790323) based in Accra, Ghana, focused on improving health care awareness and enhancing the lives of teenage girls.
The Foundation is committed to improving the lives of teenage girls in underserved communities by addressing one of the most overlooked barriers to education and empowerment: menstrual health.
Over the past three years, we have supported over 1,443 girls across six schools with essential hygiene products and menstrual health education. Through our "PAD-ME" (Providing Access to Dignity-Menstrual Empowerment) Initiative, we aim to ensure that no girl misses school or loses her confidence due to the lack of access to basic menstrual hygiene resources.
Now, we need your support to expand this impactful program and reach even more young girls.
The Challenges We’re Facing
Many teenage girls in Ghana face significant challenges related to menstrual health, including:
- Lack of Access to Hygiene Products: Many families cannot afford basic items like menstrual pads, resulting in girls resorting to unsafe alternatives or skipping school during their cycles.
- Social Stigma and Myths: Cultural taboos and misinformation about menstruation perpetuate feelings of shame and embarrassment, affecting girls’ confidence.
- Health Risks: Without proper hygiene products and education, many girls face infections and other health complications.
- Absenteeism: The inability to manage their menstrual cycles leads to missed school days, hindering academic performance and future opportunities.
Why This Matters
Addressing menstrual health is critical to empowering young girls and ensuring their right to education and dignity. When girls have access to hygiene products and education, they:
- Stay in school, reducing absenteeism and dropout rates.
- Build self-confidence, enabling them to focus on their education and future aspirations.
- Gain the knowledge to manage their health and break the cycle of stigma surrounding menstruation.
By supporting this initiative, you’re not just helping teenage girls in Ghana—you’re contributing to a future where they can thrive academically, socially, and economically.
