Support Brainpower Development Centre: Sponsor Education & Healthcare for Children in Ghana

Founded in 2013, BDC provides children from low-income families with access to quality schooling and health services to help them build meaningful, independent lives. The organization also runs drug prevention campaigns, organizes health debates with medical experts, and provides entrepreneurship training to equip youth with practical skills for the future.

Since its inception, Brainpower Development Centre has made a measurable impact:

• Empowered over 125 students as drug educators.

• Reached more than 3,500 young people through drug education and health programs.

• Sponsored 27 children to attend private schools in Ghana.

BDC’s mission is simple but powerful — to unlock the potential of marginalized youth, helping them access education, maintain good health, and escape the cycle of poverty.

The Challenges

Many children in Ghana face severe barriers to education due to poverty, poor healthcare access, and teenage pregnancy. According to the Child Protection Baseline Research Report (2014), up to 26.9% of children aged 5–17 in the Western Region are engaged in economic activities, and 20.5% are involved in child labor. Nearly one in eight children work in hazardous conditions.

The desire to earn money and support their families often leads to school dropouts, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. For girls, teenage pregnancy remains one of the main causes of interrupted education. Many are forced to leave school to care for their babies, with little chance of returning to the classroom.

Without intervention, these children face limited opportunities, poor health outcomes, and lifelong hardship.

Education and healthcare are not privileges — they are fundamental rights that every child deserves. Yet thousands of children in Ghana still lack both.

With your support, Brainpower Development Centre LBG aims to raise $5,000 to provide education and healthcare sponsorship for 20 children in Takoradi and surrounding communities.

Each $250 sponsorship covers:

• School fees and exam fees

• Lunch and school uniforms

• Text and exercise books

• Extra classes for academic improvement

• One-year health insurance coverage

Brainpower Development Centre LBG identifies vulnerable children who are at risk of dropping out of school and partners with local schools and hospitals to provide them with both educational and healthcare support.

Our integrated approach focuses on:

• Education Sponsorship: Covering all essential school-related costs to ensure children can attend school consistently.

• Healthcare Support: Providing access to preventive healthcare, treatment for common illnesses, and annual health insurance coverage.

• Community Awareness: Conducting campaigns on drug and substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, malaria prevention, and teenage pregnancy to promote health education and responsible behavior among youth.
