The Rotary Club of Accra - Premier International (RCAPI) is a dynamic service organization under Rotary District 9104, committed to uplifting communities across Ghana through impactful projects. One of our flagship initiatives, Pads of Hope, tackles the silent crisis of menstrual poverty affecting schoolgirls.

Every month, thousands of girls in underserved communities miss school simply because they lack access to sanitary pads. These recurring absences lead to falling behind in class, dropping out, and losing confidence—perpetuating cycles of poverty and gender inequality.

This campaign aims to raise $2,000 to provide reusable sanitary pads, menstrual hygiene education, and support systems for girls in need—ensuring they can manage their periods safely, stay in school, and thrive.

The Challenges

Menstrual hygiene is a major barrier to education for girls across Ghana. Every month, many are forced to skip 3–5 days of school due to lack of access to sanitary products. The consequences are academic, emotional, and long-term.

This is not just a health issue—it’s a human rights issue. Girls resort to unsafe alternatives like rags or leaves. They face stigma and embarrassment in schools with poor sanitation and little understanding of their needs.

Without urgent support, these girls are at risk of falling permanently behind—just because of their biology.

Why It Matters

Menstrual hygiene access is directly linked to education, confidence, and opportunity. Providing girls with safe, reusable pads and menstrual education gives them the dignity and support they need to stay in school and chase their dreams—on equal footing with boys.

This project doesn't just hand out pads. It changes mindsets, restores dignity, and builds brighter futures.

The Solution

With your help, RCAPI will use the $2,000 raised to:

Distribute Reusable Sanitary Pads: Provide girls in underserved communities with safe, reusable sanitary pads, giving them the dignity and comfort they need to stay in school during their periods.

Deliver Menstrual Hygiene Education: Facilitate workshops in schools to educate girls about menstrual health, hygiene, and self-care, helping to reduce shame and misinformation.

Engage Community Stakeholders: Involve parents, teachers, and male students in awareness programs to help break the cultural stigma surrounding menstruation and build a more supportive school environment.

Support School Attendance: Track school attendance and provide ongoing support to ensure girls remain in class, empowered to learn and thrive without interruption.

Improve Sanitation Infrastructure: Advocate for and assist in the improvement of school sanitation facilities to create safe, private spaces for girls to manage their hygiene needs.

Thank you for believing in the power of education, dignity, and equality. Your gift is more than a donation—it’s a statement that every girl deserves to stay in school, every day of the month.

Transparency Promise

We pledge to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Every contribution will be diligently tracked, with regular updates on our progress and detailed reports on how your donations are making a difference.
