Help Lead Me Back Foundation Fight Hunger and Boost Education in Zambia
In the heart of Zambia’s Copperbelt, where dusty roads weave through tight-knit neighborhoods, the Lead Me Back Foundation (LMBF) is planting seeds of hope.
Founded and led by young visionaries who know firsthand the challenges of underserved communities, LMBF is a registered nonprofit (Reg. No. RNGO 101/1742/2022, Tax ID No: 2631462314) committed to changing the future for vulnerable children through healthcare, education, and climate action.
From running community-based Ubumi Care Clinics to delivering daily meals to malnourished students, and from supporting over 1,000 learners through the "Guardian for a Year" project to working alongside the Ministry of Education to advance climate education, we believe in tackling poverty with grassroots solutions that last.
Today, we're asking you to stand with us — and with the hundreds of children in Kawama, Ndola, who deserve more than just survival.
They deserve a chance to thrive.
The Challenges
Imagine walking into a classroom without a book, a pen, or even a pair of shoes. Imagine trying to focus on lessons while your stomach growls louder than the teacher’s voice.
For many children in Kawama, this is their everyday battle.
-
Hunger gnaws away at concentration and energy.
-
Lack of basic school supplies crushes confidence and pride.
-
Malnutrition stunts not just bodies — but dreams.
Our “Guardian for a Year” project — providing school essentials like uniforms, books, and backpacks — has been a lifeline. But as the needs grow, so does the gap between what we can provide and the soaring demand.
Meanwhile, our school nutrition program at Lotus Community School, which offers 100 children a daily serving of Umoyo Nutrition Porridge, has already proven its power:
-
Attendance has improved.
-
Classroom engagement has soared.
-
Smiles have returned to faces once marked by fatigue.
But funding shortfalls now threaten this vital lifeline.
Without support, the pots could go empty, and the momentum we’ve built could unravel.
Why It Matters
Education and nutrition are inseparable. A hungry child cannot learn. A child without tools cannot dream. When we provide a simple meal and basic school supplies, we don't just improve grades — we restore dignity, build resilience, and create pathways out of poverty.
-
A full belly leads to sharper minds and stronger bodies.
-
A new uniform inspires self-confidence and a sense of belonging.
-
A backpack filled with books signals to a child: you have worth, you have a future.
At Lead Me Back Foundation, we see the power of small interventions every single day:
A child who once skipped class now arrives early, eager to learn.
A mother, once fearful her child would drop out, now beams with pride.
A community, once resigned to stagnation, dares to hope.
Your support doesn’t just fund supplies or food. It fuels opportunity. It fuels transformation.
The Solution
Our plan is simple but powerful: remove the barriers that keep vulnerable children from thriving.
Equip 200+ Vulnerable Learners
-
Provide school essentials — uniforms, shoes, exercise books, and backpacks — so every child walks into the classroom prepared, proud, and ready to succeed.
Sustain and Expand the School Nutrition Program
-
Continue providing daily nutritious Umoyo Porridge to 100 children.
-
Expand the program to reach even more malnourished learners at risk of dropping out.
Strengthen Volunteer Training
-
Train local volunteer cooks in safe food preparation and nutrition practices, ensuring the program remains community-driven, hygienic, and sustainable.
Monitor and Improve Impact
-
Conduct regular health screenings in partnership with local clinics.
-
Implement a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) framework to track and strengthen results.
your kindness echoes through the lives you touch. Thank you for believing in the dreams of Zambia’s most vulnerable children — and for standing with us as we turn hunger into hope, and classrooms into launchpads for a brighter tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Lead Me Back Foundation
