Eco-Africa Network is a youth-driven climate organization based in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to providing innovative, sustainable solutions that align with UN Sustainable Development Goals 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 17. Over the past six years, the network has mobilized more than 10,000 young people and recovered over 1,000 kg of plastic waste through clean-ups and recycling drives.

Eco-Africa’s track record includes organizing the Waste Management Conference Pre-COP28 Workshop, which convened industry leaders and more than 500 participants to address pressing environmental issues. Through such initiatives, the organization has become a trusted platform for youth-led environmental action and policy engagement.

The Challenges

Hosting the maiden National Universities Climate Debate 2025 requires resources beyond the volunteer power that fuels Eco-Africa’s day-to-day operations. Essential costs—venue rental, publicity, debate materials, travel stipends, and logistics—cannot be covered without external support.

Without sufficient funding:

  • Participation from Ghana’s 12 public universities will be limited.

  • Students from rural and less-resourced regions may be excluded.

  • The debate’s potential to shape climate policy and amplify youth voices will be diminished.

This project matters because young people are among those most affected by climate change, yet they are often excluded from national decision-making.

Why It Matters

The National Universities Climate Debate 2025 will provide a nationwide platform for students to present innovative climate solutions, challenge existing policies, and strengthen their leadership skills. Adequate funding ensures:

  • Equal Representation – Students from all regions, not just Accra, can participate.

  • Professional Execution – High-quality logistics, debate materials, and a well-organized venue will give the event credibility and impact.

  • Policy Influence – Policymakers, civil society leaders, and the media will hear students’ proposals, amplifying their ideas well beyond campus.

  • Capacity Building – Participants gain public speaking, research, and advocacy skills to lead climate action in their communities and careers.

Supporting this event means investing in the next generation of Ghanaian climate leaders who will drive sustainable change for decades.

Solution

Eco-Africa Network’s goal is to elevate youth voices in Ghana’s climate agenda by hosting the National Universities Climate Debate 2025 under the theme: “Driving Climate Action through Policy, Innovation, and Equity.”

With a fundraising target of USD 17,000, we will:

  • Cover venue rental, publicity, and event logistics to ensure a professional and impactful debate.

  • Provide travel and accommodation support so teams from all 12 public universities can attend.

  • Supply training and debate materials, enabling students to research and present strong, evidence-based arguments.

  • Engage media and policymakers to broadcast the outcomes and integrate student proposals into national climate discussions.

Beyond the debate itself, the project will build a network of student climate advocates prepared to champion environmental policy and innovation across Ghana.

Your contribution empowers Ghanaian students to lead the national conversation on climate action. By supporting the National Universities Climate Debate 2025, you’re helping to create an inclusive platform where young innovators present solutions, influence policy, and inspire communities toward a more sustainable future. Thank you for investing in the voices and ideas that will shape Ghana’s climate response for years to come.

Transparency Promise

We pledge to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Every contribution will be diligently tracked, with regular updates on our progress and detailed reports on how your donations are making a difference.
