The Challenges

Despite this dedication, the school faces serious shortages of essential resources. Classrooms lack basic materials—many students share worn-out storybooks and outdated textbooks. Pens, notebooks, and school uniforms are often scarce, making it difficult for students to engage fully in their studies. The library is too small to meet growing demand, and the few books on hand are rapidly deteriorating.

Beyond the classroom, the challenges deepen. Poverty forces many young girls into child labor or early marriage, stripping them of education and independence. Without vocational skills, even those who complete basic schooling often struggle to find sustainable work. The absence of practical, income-generating skills keeps families trapped in a cycle of hardship.

Day Star Royal Academy has made tremendous progress in opening doors to education, but without more learning materials and opportunities for skills training, many students—especially girls—risk losing hope for a brighter future.

Solution

Day Star Royal Academy seeks to raise USD 9,700 (GHS 112,920) to fund two critical initiatives:

Educational Resources: Equip 16 students with full learning support packages—textbooks, storybooks, exercise books, notebooks, pens, school bags, uniforms, and Friday wear. This will remove financial and material barriers, ensuring students stay focused on their education and continue to develop strong literacy and numeracy skills.

Vocational Empowerment: Provide six young women with industrial sewing machines, cover professional training fees, and supply uniforms for their vocational program. This will give them marketable skills to launch tailoring businesses and achieve financial independence.

These interventions directly target the root causes of poverty—lack of education and lack of employable skills. By combining classroom learning with practical vocational training, this project ensures both immediate and long-term benefits for children and their families.
