The Environmental and Social Sustainability Foundation (ESSF) is a grassroots organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, committed to fostering sustainable development while protecting the environment. Founded in 2009 and registered in 2017, ESSF works tirelessly with local communities, government agencies, and other organizations to achieve its mission. To achieve sustainable development without compromising the welfare of 'Mother Earth' by focusing on community development, technology for impact, capacity building, gender equality, public awareness, conservation practices, and health activities.

The Challenges

The Amboseli Ecosystem is facing critical challenges that threaten its wildlife, communities, and environment. The interconnected nature of these issues requires a comprehensive approach that considers the well-being of all ecosystem components.

Key Areas of Concern:

  • Human-Wildlife Conflict: Increasing competition for resources and habitat degradation are leading to conflicts between humans and wildlife.
  • Emerging Infectious Diseases: Close proximity between humans and wildlife increases the risk of diseases spreading between species.
  • Environmental Degradation: Climate change, unsustainable land-use practices, and water scarcity are impacting biodiversity and resource availability.
  • Limited Access to Healthcare: Nomadic communities face significant challenges in accessing healthcare due to the limited number of health facilities and services.

Why It Matters

Supporting this campaign means directly contributing to the health and sustainability of the Amboseli Ecosystem. The funds raised will be used to cover essential costs for the medical camp, including:

  • Lab items and medical equipment lease
  • Vaccines and medicines
  • Snacks and refreshments for community participants
  • HPV testing equipment
  • Security and logistics for medical equipment
  • Stationaries, tents, chairs, and public address systems

Solution

Help Us Raise $32,000 for the Amboseli Ecosystem One Health Sensitization and Knowledge Dissemination Workshop. The One Health approach is foundational to our efforts in the Amboseli Ecosystem. This approach recognizes the interconnectedness between the health of humans, animals, and the environment. It emphasizes that:

  • Human and Animal Health Are Linked: Diseases can jump between species, and environmental factors impact both human and animal health.
  • A Healthy Environment Is Essential: A thriving ecosystem with clean water, healthy vegetation, and abundant wildlife supports the well-being of all inhabitants.

In the context of Amboseli, One Health encourages us to:

  • Understand how human activities impact wildlife populations and the spread of diseases.
  • Recognize how healthy wildlife populations contribute to a balanced ecosystem benefiting surrounding communities.
  • Address how environmental degradation, such as water scarcity or land-use changes, affects human and animal health, as well as overall ecosystem resilience.

Transparency Promise

We pledge to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Every contribution will be diligently tracked, with regular updates on our progress and detailed reports on how your donations are making a difference.
