Donate to Handz-On Africa & Help Build a Future of STEAM-Powered Problem Solvers in Ghana
Handz-On Africa, officially registered as Handz-On Learner Space for Africa , is a youth-led, not-for-profit NGO based in Madina, Greater Accra, Ghana. Run by students and recent graduates of higher education institutions, we harness the transformative potential of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) to empower young people from marginalized communities to become innovators and changemakers.
We’re not just preparing youth for jobs—we’re preparing them to solve the world’s toughest problems. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world application, we develop critical thinkers, creators, and future leaders. Our programs directly support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including:
-
Quality Education
-
Gender Equality
-
Decent Work & Economic Growth
-
Climate Action
-
No Poverty
Now, we’re launching our most ambitious project yet: We are raising $5,000 to kick off the STEAM for the Future workshops across five regions in Ghana and launch a digital platform connecting youth to STEAM careers, mentors, and resources.
The Challenges
The world is evolving—but many of our youth are being left behind. Imagine if Ghanaian youth had the skills to:
-
3D-print tissues for medical breakthroughs
-
Innovate in solid-state battery technology
-
Develop sustainable energy systems
-
Lead the AI revolution or pioneer bioengineering
But for too many students, STEAM education ends with theory—not practice. Schools often lack the tools, mentorship, or career support to turn classroom lessons into real-world problem-solving.
The result?
-
A widening skills gap
-
Underemployment and frustration among graduates
-
Lost potential in a country brimming with brilliant young minds
Why It Matters
This campaign is about igniting the next generation of inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and engineers—and giving them the support they need to lead Ghana into a future of innovation.
Your contribution will:
-
Bridge the divide between education and real-world impact
-
Create future-ready job pipelines through mentorship and training
-
Empower girls and young women in STEAM fields where they are underrepresented
-
Support solutions to real local problems designed by young people themselves
With just $5,000, we can ignite a movement of groundbreaking thinkers and builders.
The Solution
Handz-On Africa will implement the STEAM for the Future program in two parts:
1. Regional STEAM Workshops (Starting in 5 Regions)
-
Project-based learning sessions for hundreds of students
-
Hands-on activities in robotics, AI, sustainable energy, biomedical tech, and more
-

-
Career talks and mentorship sessions with Ghanaian STEAM professionals
2. STEAM Career Coaching & Networking Platform
-
An online platform connecting youth to:
-
Industry mentors
-
Scholarship and internship opportunities
-
Peer-to-peer learning groups
-
Curated resources to build 21st-century skills
-
-
A digital hub showcasing youth-led innovations, creating visibility and pathways to employment or funding
Our goal is to raise $5,000 and your support will help fund:
-
Logistics and materials for 5 regional workshops
-
Software and platform development
-
Onboarding of mentors and facilitators
-
Travel stipends for volunteers and trainers
-
Digital visibility for youth-led innovations
