Join Twezuule Foundation to help Youth with Disabilities a Chance to Thrive
In Uganda, where challenges of access and acceptance persist for youth with disabilities, Twezuule Foundation stands as a powerful force for change. Founded and led by individuals with disabilities, Twezuule Foundation is dedicated to creating a truly inclusive society where youth, regardless of their physical ability, can pursue their dreams and thrive.
Registered as an NGO in Uganda (Registration No. 80034072703615, Tax ID No: 1045797954), Twezuule Foundation works tirelessly to provide marginalized youth with opportunities for economic empowerment, social inclusion, and equal rights. Through vocational training, advocacy, and mental health support, the foundation helps youth build self-reliance and confidence.
With programs focused on skills development in areas like soap production, digital marketing, and sanitary pad making, Twezuule empowers youth with disabilities, equipping them for the future. The foundation is also committed to fostering mental health well-being, ensuring that every individual feels supported not only physically but emotionally, so they can overcome the barriers of stigma, discrimination, and isolation.
But this journey is not without its obstacles — funding gaps, lack of assistive devices, and inadequate infrastructure limit the foundation’s ability to reach more vulnerable youth. This is where you come in. Together, we can break down these barriers and offer youth a path to success.
The Challenges
In Uganda, youth with disabilities often face societal exclusion, lack of employment opportunities, and limited access to education. The odds are stacked against them before they even begin.
-
Stigma and Discrimination: Many youths with disabilities are marginalized and face social exclusion, which hinders their ability to engage in education and community life.
-
Economic Barriers: A lack of skills and training prevents many youth with disabilities from entering the workforce. This, combined with poor access to assistive devices, leaves them trapped in poverty.
-
Mental Health Challenges: Social isolation, the stigma of disability, and the lack of supportive systems often lead to poor mental health. Many of the youth we work with suffer from anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, which further hinders their progress.
But Twezuule Foundation is determined to turn the tide. The foundation’s vocational training programs, however, are limited by funding constraints and the lack of raw materials, tools, and assistive devices.
The support we provide is life-changing, but without additional resources, we can only reach a fraction of those who need it most.
Why It Matters
The barriers to success are too great for many youth with disabilities. Twezuule Foundation’s mission isn’t just about offering training or mentorship — it’s about empowering individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty and exclusion.
-
Youth with Disabilities Deserve a Chance to Thrive: These young people possess immense potential — they simply need the right resources and support to turn their talents into opportunities.
-
Breaking Stigma, Building Confidence: Through our programs, youth gain not only vocational skills, but also self-worth. They realize that their disability does not define them.
-
Access to Assistive Devices: Simple tools like wheelchairs, hearing aids, or screen readers can unlock a world of possibilities for these youth. But currently, they are out of reach for many.
Your contribution will help us provide the tools, the training, and the mental health support necessary for youth with disabilities to shine in their communities. We believe that when barriers are removed, extraordinary potential can flourish.
The Solution
With your support, we will bring lasting change to youth with disabilities in Uganda by providing them with the tools, skills, and mental health support they need to thrive.
1. Expand Vocational Training Programs
- Purchase tools and raw materials for soap production, basket weaving, digital marketing, and other skills.
- Enhance training facilities to accommodate more youth, particularly those with mobility challenges.
- Provide assistive devices such as wheelchairs and screen readers to ensure accessibility in all training programs.
2. Improve Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
- Hire professional counselors to provide mental health services.
- Organize peer support groups and awareness workshops to break down stigma, encourage self-acceptance, and boost self-esteem.
3. Launch a Small Business Startup Kit Initiative
- For promising trainees, offer seed capital, tools, and mentorship to help them start their own businesses, providing them with the opportunity to become financially independent and create sustainable livelihoods.
4. Advocacy for Disability Inclusion
- Strengthen our advocacy for inclusive employment and improved accessibility in both the private and public sectors.
- Run awareness campaigns to educate employers, communities, and policymakers about the potential and needs of youth with disabilities.
With your support, we can provide more youth with the skills, resources, and confidence they need to succeed. By focusing on economic empowerment, mental health, and inclusive employment, Twezuule Foundation aims to create a future where youth with disabilities don’t just survive—they thrive.
