Donate to Tuso Trust Zambia: Protect & Empower People with Albinism
In Zambia, people with albinism and disabilities continue to face deep-rooted stigma, discrimination, and even threats to their lives. In response to these challenges, Tuso Trust Centre Networks for Persons with Albinism and Disabilities was established in Lusaka to fight for dignity, inclusion, and safety for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Registered under company number 11/20 with tax ID 2440701219, Tuso Trust is a community-based initiative focused on sourcing land, building shelters, and establishing inclusive learning spaces for persons with albinism and disabilities. Without institutional sponsors, we rely entirely on the generosity of well-wishers and everyday heroes like you.
Our work is guided by one principle: Leave no one behind.
The Challenges
In many parts of Zambia, individuals with albinism face a daily fight for survival—simply because of the color of their skin.
-
Violence & Threats: There are alarming rates of attacks, abductions, and killings of persons with albinism due to harmful superstitions. The fear is constant, and the need for safe housing is urgent.
-
Educational Barriers: Few students with albinism are enrolled in school. Without adequate learning environments and materials, their right to an education remains unfulfilled.
-
Healthcare Injustice: Access to sunscreen is essential for people with albinism to prevent skin cancer, yet the high cost makes it unaffordable for most.
-
Lack of Support: With no major sponsors or long-term donors, we are dependent on ad-hoc gifts—making our work unsustainable in the long run.
We have land. We have passion. But we lack the critical resources to build safe and inclusive spaces.
Why It Matters
This campaign is not just about sunscreen or school—it’s about survival, dignity, and belonging.
When you support this initiative, you are:
-
Saving lives by helping us create safe spaces that protect people with albinism from violence.
-
Empowering education by supporting efforts to build inclusive classrooms and keep children in school.
-
Preventing disease by helping us supply sunscreen and healthcare to reduce rates of skin cancer.
-
Championing inclusion by sending a strong message that people with disabilities and albinism deserve safety, respect, and opportunity.
This is not charity. It’s justice.
The Solution
Your support will help Tuso Trust implement three urgent solutions:
1. Healthcare Support
-
Purchase sunscreen and other health essentials for persons with albinism
-
Provide protective clothing and medical checkups for those most vulnerable
2. Safe Learning Environments
-
Begin development on the land we’ve acquired to build classrooms and shelters
-
Equip students with school supplies and support to remain in education
3. Advocacy and Protection
-
Host awareness campaigns to educate communities about albinism and fight dangerous myths
-
Collaborate with government and police to advocate for improved protections
With just $1,500, we can take a critical step forward—ensuring safety, care, and hope for the people who need it most.
