Help Renovate & Upgrade Vakpo Primary & Childcare Center
In Ghana’s Volta Region, the children of Vakpo E.P. Primary & Childcare Center are doing their best to learn in conditions that work against them. When it rains, classrooms leak and when the heat rises, lessons move under trees. Safe drinking water isn’t consistently available, and students lack basic toilets and handwashing stations. This isn’t about making a school “nicer.” It’s about making it safe enough to learn.
Mayekoo (Project Andiamo Foundation)—a U.S. 501(c)(3) and Ghanaian public charity—is stepping in as the delivery lead to help restore Vakpo E. P Primary, starting with urgent, high-impact needs.
Why This Matters
Kids can’t focus when classrooms don’t protect them from weather—or when safe drinking water isn’t reliable. And when sanitation is inadequate, health and dignity suffer—especially for girls. When the basics fail, everything else slips:
- attendance drops
- illness increases
- teachers lose instructional time
- learning outcomes decline
Vakpo’s students deserve a school that supports learning—not one they must endure.
The Plan (Phased, Needs-First)
With your help, we’ll deliver upgrades in milestone-based phases—starting with what protects health and keeps classrooms usable:
- Safe Water: drill a borehole and provide safe water access (with protection and storage as needed)
- Classroom Protection: replace the roof, repair/install doors and windows, and address critical structural needs
- WASH: complete toilets and handwashing stations
- Learning Essentials: provide desks, tables, and chairs; remove unsafe furniture
- Safe Play: build a structured play area with age-appropriate equipment
Delivery + Transparency
Mayekoo will manage scoping, contractors & vendors, construction, and milestone-gated disbursements. Estimated budget: $100,000. Donors will receive regular progress updates, photos, phase budgets, and final closeout reporting.
