Challenges:

As people age, they face numerous challenges, including declining health and mobility, loneliness due to fewer social ties, financial insecurity, and limited access to healthcare. In Mwihoko ward within Ruiru constituency, the elderly have highlighted specific issues such as loneliness, the burden of caring for grandchildren, health issues like arthritis, hypertension, and diabetes, lack of employment, irresponsible adult children, and poor diet.

Why It Matters:

The elderly are a vital part of our community, yet they often struggle with basic needs and social isolation. Liberty of Hope addresses these challenges by providing psychosocial support, food supply, hygiene supplies (including adult diapers), and organizing community outreach events. Our objective is to advocate for and support the elderly, preserve their independence, and foster an active social development agenda to reduce discrimination against them.
