    Founded in 2015, Hands of Help Children's Organization is a dedicated social impact organization located in Nairobi, Kenya. Our mission is to uplift and support underprivileged children in informal and marginalized communities by promoting literacy and education. Through the Havens Community Library and Digital Learning Centre, we provide a safe space for children to engage in remedial classwork, reading activities, and develop essential communication and social skills. Additionally, our Sister Menstrual Health Management program addresses menstrual stigma by providing adolescent girls with hygiene education and dignity packs.

    The Challenges

    Our Havens Community Library and Digital Learning Centre has been embraced by the community, currently serving over 200 children each week. However, our limited space is unable to accommodate all the children eager to learn, often forcing us to use open spaces or turn away children in need. The lack of digital learning equipment, such as computers and books, further hampers our efforts to provide a comprehensive educational experience.

    The children we support are the future of our community. By providing them with the necessary resources, we can ensure they have the same opportunities as their peers from more privileged backgrounds. This investment in their education will empower them to compete in the global job market, apply technology to solve problems, and become responsible, contributing members of society.

    Solution

    We propose expanding our library space by either renting or purchasing the adjacent property to accommodate more children. Additionally, we aim to equip the library with essential learning materials, including books, computers, desks, and educational graphics. In the long term, we plan to establish another library in a nearby informal community, further extending our impact.

    How the Funds Will Be Used:

    • Acquisition of books, desks, chairs, and educational materials.
    • Initial setup for a second library in a nearby informal community.
