    Illmi Children’s Foundation (ICF) is a dedicated non-profit organization with a mission to bridge the gap in access to education and entrepreneurship, empower communities through policy advocacy, and combat all forms of Gender-Based Violence. Operating across over 15 states in Nigeria, ICF has reached over 20,000 beneficiaries with the help of 2,500 volunteers. Our innovative programs, backed by thorough research and a commitment to capacity building, have made a significant impact on underserved communities. Currently, we are partnering with the U.S. Mission in Nigeria through the Ambassador's Special Self Help Project to further our mission.

    The Challenges

    Nigeria is grappling with a severe educational crisis, with an estimated 20 million children out of school, particularly in marginalized communities like the Almajiris and the Fulani. These children lack access to basic literacy, vocational training, and digital literacy, widening the socio-economic gap and stifling their potential to thrive in a modern, digital world.

    Why It Matters

    The Illmi Children's Fund (ICF) is committed to addressing this crisis through our innovative Community Cluster Learning Model (CCLM). This program is specifically designed to reduce the number of out-of-school children and eradicate illiteracy in underserved communities by providing essential skills in reading, writing, arithmetic, digital literacy, and vocational training. The program not only aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of these children but also empowers them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

    Solution

    The CCLM program is a nine-month initiative, including a three-month remedial phase, that requires significant financial support to succeed. Your generous contributions will be used in the following ways:

    • Educational Materials: Will be allocated to purchasing books, digital devices, and learning aids essential for basic and post-basic literacy, digital literacy, and vocational training.
    • Teacher Training and Salaries: Will be used to recruit and retain qualified educators who can deliver our curriculum effectively.
    • Infrastructure Development: Will go towards establishing and improving learning centers in these underserved communities.
